Centre for Learning Systems
The Centre for Learning Systems drives innovation in SAF Training and Learning domain by integrating pedagogy, technology, analytics, and immersive content to design and deliver effective learning solutions, ensuring servicemen are equipped to meet evolving training and operational needs.

About CLS
The Centre for Learning Systems (CLS) is established in SAFTI Military Institute (SAFTI MI) in Oct 2013 to plan and transform the SAF curriculum architecture, pedagogical practices and learning technologies.
CLS interfaces with the various Services training policy and plans departments to harmonise the planning and implementing of policies and projects for Services’ Training Commands.
CLS leads the advancement of the SAF learning landscape, processes and infrastructure and, co-ordinates with Institute for Military Learning (IML) to prepare the SAF trainers and instructors to leverage on the learning capabilities and initiatives developed.

Vision
To be the centre of excellence in learning capability development
Mission
To develop effective, efficient and integrated learning systems
Values
Professionalism, Inclusiveness, Excellence, Leadership and Teamwork
Organisation and Structure

CLS Organisation Structure consists of 5 Branches:
Learning Plans Branch

Learning and TD&I Domain authority: Formulate and coordinate the roll-out of new learning initiatives and drive change management across Services.
Establish and manage T&L Domain digitalization plan.
Curriculum Branch
Doctrinal authority for pedagogy, instructional design, and learning doctrine.
Domain authority for curriculum: Setting standards and practices in SAF.
Assists Services Trg Commands in the conduct of training needs analysis, curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
Implement learning technology enablers across SAF.
Learning Technology Branch
Integrate learning technologies into SAF curriculum and workplace to support instruction and learning.
Develop utilities and applications to enhance SAF learning technologies.
Manage the maintenance and operations of SAF learning systems.
Manage enterprise learning systems (LN-2 and NGLS) and SME for learning system development.
SAF Knowledge Exchange
Spearhead content development and KM capability development.
Develop strategy, policies, infrastructure, and relevant processes for content management and creation.
Establish, run, and sustain Digital Content Factory.
Manage and operate SAFTI MI Library.
Learning Analytics Team
Establish learning analytics to improve system, unit, and individual effectiveness through capability planning, benchmarking, and driving innovation.
Develop doctrine, techniques, and resources to enable integrative and holistic exploitation of data across stakeholders and systems.
Contextualize learning analytics capabilities across stakeholders to drive adoption and glean insights on system/unit/individual effectiveness.
Next Generation Learning System (NGLS)
Digital Transformation of Learning
As a continuum to SAF learning transformation that started from year 2012, the next bound of learning transformation will be enabled by the Next Generation Learning System (NGLS) and transform learning to be continuous, self-directed and digital. NGLS will enable servicemen, units and domains to leverage data and drive improvements in their training and unit operations.
NGLS Sub-Systems
NGLS comprises 5 digital sub-systems:
Individual Learning System (iLEARN): A personalised smart platform for every servicemen to learn digitally.
Unit Learning System (uLEARN): A performance tracking and feedback system for Training Institutes or units to learn collectively.
Work-Events based Learning System (weLEARN): A digital audit and evaluation system for domain-level standards and processes.
Learning Content Management System (LCMS): A digital library for efficient curation and governance of learning content.
Enterprise Learning Analytics (ELA): A learning data integration and visualisation for system-level analysis and improvement.
